Construction & Renovation
Full-scale construction of new structures and the modernization of existing buildings.
MarecBau is a family-run construction and renovation firm based in the Gooi region. We started in 2000 with one rule — hand back keys to a place we'd be proud to live in ourselves — and we've kept to it through every project since.
Most of our work is in luxury apartments and turnkey renovations in Hilversum, Blaricum, Huizen, Baarn, Amsterdam and Utrecht. We do structural construction, fine finishings (large-format porcelain, calacatta book-matching, hard-stone), and the installations behind them — Fermacell dry underfloor heating, smart modulating boilers, balanced ventilation.
Everything we install carries a written warranty. We work with Bosch, Festool, DeWalt, Makita and Mirka because the tolerances we hold ourselves to — half a millimetre across a three-metre wall — don't forgive mid-grade tooling. Have a project in mind? Ask for the offer in writing; we'll show you the math.

From The Field
Notes from active job sites, finished projects and the team behind them.
The shift from traditional 600 × 600 mm tiles to large-format porcelain — Laminam, Maxfine, Florim Magnum — has pushed tile work much closer to stonemasonry. A single Laminam slab is 1,620 × 3,240 mm, six millimetres thick, and weighs about 80 kg. Drop it once and you've thrown away €600 of material. Cut it badly and the entire wall reads as crooked because there's no grout line to hide behind. This is the work we love. And it's the work that demands the right tools, full stop. Our cutting setup for luxury apartments centres on three pieces of kit. For straight cuts we run a Montolit P3 Masterpiuma 3300 mm rail with a titanium scoring wheel — score once, snap...
Read MoreClients ask us this every other quote: is it worth paying €5,500 for a Remeha Tzerra Ace or an Intergas Xtreme over the €2,800 basic combi from the same brand? The honest answer is that it depends on how the house is run — but for most of the homes we work on, the smart unit pays itself back inside six years and runs quieter, longer, and far gentler on the heating loop.A modulating condensing boiler is doing two jobs the basic unit can't. First, it ramps its burner down to as little as 12% of rated output instead of cycling on and off at full whack. That means it spends the shoulder months — September through November, March...
Read MoreFor new builds, a wet screed underfloor system is still hard to beat on raw efficiency. But ninety percent of the projects we touch in Hilversum, Blaricum and the surrounding region are renovations — and that's where Fermacell's dry underfloor system has quietly become our default. The product is straightforward: a 25 mm gypsum-fibre element with pre-routed channels for 16 mm PE-RT pipework, dropped over a thin levelling layer. Total build-up sits between 25 and 32 mm depending on the variant. Compare that to the 70–100 mm a traditional cement screed needs and the implications are obvious — you keep ceiling heights, door reveals stay where the architect drew them, and listed-building thresholds remain intact. What sells it on site is...
